Will I receive a T4 from a company that went out of business?

For four months last year I worked from a Cleaning company that unfortunately went out of business before the year ended, should I still receive a T4 from this company? If not, what do I do in order to file my taxes?

They may mail you a T4, but it is unlikely. If you don't receive anything call CRA and ask about what "slips you have on file". If they submitted a T4, but did not send one to you they (CRA) will be able to give you the numbers you need. I would not count on this. If they went out of biz, I doubt that they took care of the T4s. Did you keep your cheque stubs? Some have year to date totals. Although it is not a T4, it will give you a pretty good idea of what you made and paid in tax. You are expected to report all income, regardless if you have received a slip or not. You will never be penalized for reporting as long as you try to be accurate. When in doubt call the Canada Revenue Agency. They are very helpful and will advise you on how to proceed.
