I plugged it in and it lit up but the connected sign or the charge sign on the battery wont show up, the computers not picking it up. It seem to still work as I have a bit of battery left but I need to charge it. Anyone know what to do?

What type of iPod is it? Some additonal details would help.

If it is a "click-wheel" iPod. Hold the center button and the menu button for 6-10 seconds until it re-boots. Afterwards, try to recharge it.

If it is an iPod Touch try and hold down the "Hold" switch (The black button on the top) for 6-10 seconds.

unplug ipod from computer and press menu and the center buttons at the same time until the apple appears
you may have to do it more than once

press the middle button and the menu button at the same time and hold them for a min...that should fix it.dont worry it is not broken it happens all the time

and it doesn't delete your files
